The Humana Foundation has presented a one-year, $250,000 charitable grant to the city of Natchez, Miss., and Natchez Mayor Butch Brown.
In a ceremony Wednesday at the Natchez city council chambers, Humana Gulf States Medicare President April Golenor presented the check to the mayor on behalf of the Humana Foundation. There were about 25 community and health care leaders present, including Gillian Sealy, the national director of the Clinton Health Matters Initiative. CHMI and Humana are working together in Natchez and the rest of Adams County to improve the health of the community by 20 percent by 2020.
The Humana Foundation grant will support new community health programs in Natchez that focus on diabetes education and prevention, heart disease and health care for babies and new mothers.
