Since October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to take a moment to discuss this disease – one that has touched many families, maybe even yours.
By the numbers, breast cancer is second only to lung cancer in cancer deaths among American women. In the United States, one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and another woman dies from breast cancer every 13 minutes.
While age, gender and lifetime exposure to estrogen are some of the factors known to increase your likelihood of contracting breast cancer, the causes of breast cancer are still not fully understood.
