Humana hiring 500 in homestate of Kentucky

Humana, a health company based in Louisville, Kentucky, is moving its Medicaid business in the commonwealth to be supported by an internal team in 2020. As part of this transition, Humana is hiring for 500 positions, including 118 clinical roles:

  • Medicaid Care Coaches (behavioral health professional) and Medicaid Field Case Managers (registered nurse – RN) check-in with members and talk to them about their behavioral, physical, and environmental needs to achieve and maintain their health. They are sensitive to barriers to health – such as access to food, housing and/or transportation – and will work with members to address these. Care coaches and field case managers also assist and guide members and/or their loved one toward resources for their care and well-being.
  • Medicaid Utilization Management Nurse (RN) uses clinical knowledge, communication skills, and independent critical thinking skills to interpret criteria, policies, and procedures to provide the best and most appropriate care and services for members. These registered nurses also coordinate and communicate with members and their care teams to facilitate optimal treatment.
  • Medicaid Utilization Management Coordinator provides non-clinical support for Humana’s Kentucky Medicaid members to ensure the best and most appropriate treatment, care, or services.
  • Medicaid Pre-Authorization Nurse supports members with their prescribed care plans to route them appropriately and helps doctors with navigating the variety of benefits Humana Medicaid plans offer.
  • Clinical Intake & Member Outreach Representatives follow up with members and/or doctors who may have complex benefits questions to resolve issue and help them understand the health plan.

Requirements vary by position and are detailed on careers.humana.com. Although Humana’s headquarters is in Louisville, these roles are located around the state based on its Medicaid members’ needs. Humana offers competitive hourly pay, benefits, and a bonus/incentive program, all of which start on the first day of employment.
