Go365 by Humana rewards members for getting active in Louisville’s parks

Louisville has 120 parks and 13,000 acres of public land, earning the area the name “City of Parks.” Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation, Louisville Waterfront Park, 21st Century Parks and Humana are coming together to introduce a new wellness initiative that rewards people for spending time in nature.

The three Louisville park systems have incorporated Humana-patented beacons which reward Go365™ members for getting active at one of the 54 participating Louisville parks. Go365 is Humana’s wellness and rewards program available to employers and groups across the country.

“As Humana strives to improve the health of the Louisville community through our Bold Goal, we want to leverage the opportunities we have literally in our backyard,” said Humana Medical Director and Louisville resident Bryan Loy, MD. “We believe there are physical and mental benefits from spending time in nature, and now we’re acknowledging our members who choose to go to a park just like we do for members who go to the gym. This initiative also demonstrates the power of collaboration as we work with our fellow corporations, government representatives, and non-profits to inspire healthy behaviors.”

Using Bluetooth and location-based mobile technology, Go365 offers members a way to earn rewards at the parks by checking in with their mobile device using the Go365 app (available for iPhones and Androids) “beacon check in” feature under “account & settings.” Rewards can be redeemed at the Go365 Mall to purchase e-gift cards, fitness devices, apparel, charitable donations and product discounts.

“We are very excited to participate with our peers and Humana in offering Go365 beacons throughout The Parklands of Floyd’s Fork,” said Mike Nielsen, vice president of finance and operations for 21st Century Parks. “Humana’s goal of improving health and wellness in our community is closely aligned with what The Parklands offers our community; a fantastic natural setting to exercise, explore and get away from the frantic pace of everyday life.” The Parklands of Floyds Fork is a nearly 4,000-acre donor-supported public park system within the Floyds Fork watershed in eastern and southeastern Louisville.

“The Humana Go365 beacons are a welcome addition to Waterfront Park,” said David Karem, Waterfront Development Corporation president. “Go365 members will get the double benefits of healthy exercise in a beautiful park coupled with program rewards. This is a perfect program for a public space.” Waterfront Park is an 85-acre public park on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Louisville, Kentucky that hosts concerts, festivals, and walks over the Ohio River on the Big Four Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge.

“I’d like to thank Humana for being such a great corporate and community partner,” said Dana Kasler Louisville Parks and Recreation interim director. “The Go365 program is an innovative, fun way for users to track their progress, set goals, and earn some pretty cool rewards along the way.” Louisville Parks and Recreation manages more than 13,000 acres of land, including 10 public golf courses.

The beacons allow Go365 to be more diverse in how it meets its members on their wellness journeys by opening up new possibilities to engage members who choose to workout in Louisville parks. The beacons also deepen Go365’s connection to Humana’s hometown of Louisville.
