Humana offers employees support for COVID-19 vaccination

 

Humana continues to prioritize the health and well-being of its employees and recently announced that the company will provide additional paid time off to its employees when they are able to receive COVID-19 vaccines. Humana is designating four (4) hours of paid time for employees to be away from work to get vaccinated.

This additional PTO is an effort to remove any barriers employees might have to get the vaccine and to encourage everyone, when medically appropriate and available, to choose to receive the vaccine.

Throughout the pandemic, Humana is supporting its members, communities, as well as approximately 50,000 employees across the country.

Since mid-March 2020, more than 90 percent of Humana employees have worked from home and maintained their relentless focus on helping Humana’s health plan members navigate pandemic. The majority of those members are older Americans and vulnerable to coronavirus. As COVID-19 vaccines are more broadly available, Humana is helping guide members to when, where, and how to get vaccinated.

Humana fully supports the vaccines and encourages employees and members to receive them, as medically appropriate. All Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized COVID-19 vaccines are covered at no additional cost during the public health emergency. Humana has taken several other actions during the pandemic, including increasing access to telehealth; mailing 1 million in-home preventative screening kits; delivering more than 1.1 million meals to members; and supplying safety kits, including can’t-miss Humana green face masks.

While awaiting vaccination, the best protections against coronavirus are wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and following good hand hygiene.
