Kare Mobile received a new, state-of-the-art mobile clinic from Humana to provide improved dental care and access in West Louisville. Kare Mobile, patient- centered comprehensive mobile dentistry, is an organized network of like-minded dentists and hygienists who operate locally-owned mobile, concierge practices across the United States.
There are 63 million in the U.S. according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who do not have access to dental care. Humana’s relationship with Kare Mobile is built on increasing access to communities like West Louisville, where access to and transportation for dental care is severely lacking. Kare Mobile meets patients where they are in a state-of-the-art mobile dental clinic for the same cost as going to a traditional dental practice. In addition to dental equipment, supplies and technology capabilities, Kare Mobile goes beyond traditional dental
are to address health risk factors by performing blood pressure checks. Data has shown that individuals, particularly in the African American/Black population, can be at greater risk for high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke.
“Humana is committed to removing obstacles to provide quality health,” said Keisha Smith, Humana’s Associate Director, Health Equity and Community Engagement. “This is a part of Humana's larger efforts to address health equity and health disparities currently in West Louisville and then an expansion across the other communities Humana serves.”
Humana’s partnership with Kare Mobile is part of the Louisville Community of Opportunity initiative, led by Keisha Smith, which aims to remove obstacles to quality health care by addressing social determinants of health, such as food security, while increasing access to care and health care education. Humana has
established a dedicated team of associates to work exclusively on the Community of Opportunity effort, by partnering and supporting Black-owned businesses and organizations that serve the Black community in Louisville.
With the additional Dental Mobile Clinic provided by Humana, Kare Mobile in West Louisville can address
transportation needs and access more patients throughout the whole community, as well as offer extended hours (8 a.m. – 8 p.m.). Mobile clinic vehicles include space efficient interior, advanced safety features, $30,000 worth of equipment, instrument and supplies, full color recognizable wraps and delivery to anywhere in the continental U.S. Kare Mobile began was founded in 2017 by Dr. Kwane Watson stemming from his mission to improve access to oral healthcare in America. He had a 20+ year career owning and operating multiple dental clinics
treating thousands prior to founding Kare Mobile. Through a network of dentists and hygienists across the United States, this concierge service is regularly growing and expanding its
ootprint, made possible through collaborations such as with Humana.
“Kare Mobile is focused on improving access to oral health care, by providing comprehensive dental services in a unique mobile dental unit,” said Kare Mobile owner and founder, Dr. Kwane Watson. “Little did I know since beginning in 2017 the concierge-type service we’d be able to provide to patients across the U.S. who otherwise may not have access. This simply would not be possible, specifically in West Louisville and across Kentucky, without the support and partnership of Humana.”
